November is the beginning of the holiday season—as we celebrate Thanksgiving—as well as the month when winter often descends upon our state.

To begin the season safely, read this month’s articles on storing leftovers after your holiday celebrations, protecting your home and family if you turn on portable heaters and the danger of overloading circuits.

Midland Honors Co-op Veterans

Midland Power recently celebrated our veteran employees and directors with a special flight in a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter. We thank our vets, and all veterans both past and present, for their tremendous service and sacrifices.

New Idle Service Fee Takes Effect This Fall

Seasonal disconnections now subject to idle service fee.

Members who choose to seasonally or temporarily disconnect service for more than 60 days will now be subject to an idle service fee.

This change will help ensure that each member pays their portion of the cost to maintain and operate the distribution infrastructure necessary to deliver electricity to their home, business, farm, or agricultural building.

Employees Volunteer at Historic Camp Hantesa

A group of Midland Power employees recently spent a day volunteering at Camp Fire Heart of Iowa's historic Camp Hantesa near Boone. Employees helped camp staff prepare for their spooky annual Haunted Hantesa event.
